Livestock production is an important aspect of the agricultural economy in emerging countries, especially in India, where dairy and mixed farming systems sustain the livelihoods of millions of rural communities. Aside from increasing household income, cattle give nutritional security, organic manure, job possibilities, and socioeconomic stability. In recent years, much attention has been focused on increasing livestock output through genetic enhancement, disease control, and scientific management approaches. Among the many restrictions limiting cattle productivity, nutritional imbalance remains one of the most neglected issues.
