Download PDF 15 views · 5 downloads

Perineal urethrostomy (PU) is a critical salvage surgery for male cats facing recurrent urethral obstructions or severe trauma from Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD). A precise, three-dimensional understanding of regional anatomy is essential for surgical success and minimising complications like strictures or hemorrhage. Topographically, the male feline urethra narrows drastically from a 4 mm pelvic lumen to a mere 1 mm penile lumen caudal to the bulbourethral glands. This abrupt bottleneck makes the distal penile urethra the primary site for obstructive plugs and uroliths. PU is a functional, life-saving diversion
