World Zoonoses Day 2026: Community Action Through One Health Is the Foundation for Preventing Future Outbreaks

Every year on 6 July, the global community observes World Zoonoses Day to commemorate a landmark event in the history of preventive medicine. On this day in 1885, Louis Pasteur successfully administered the first rabies vaccine to a young boy bitten by a rabid dog, demonstrating that scientific innovation could prevent one of the world’s most feared infectious diseases.
